Yorktown Yahoos
Greetings! The Yorktown Yahoos just celebrated their 10 year anniversary! Funnily enough, the event passed without them even noticing it. This follows with our mantra. We know all of the music and most of the words. Serious music... though we don't take ourselves too seriously.
Ten years of Yorktown High School Variety shows. We generally play for fun or play for food. We came in second out of three bands at the Northern Virginia Bluegrass Competition(third band cancelled). We played 5 Arlington County Neighborhood Day Parades until budget woes took the parade down. We played to raise money for Students against Landmines, to save the Gulf Branch Nature Center, and for the Friends of the Arlington Planetarium. We played for a children's camp for bereaved children at a campfire singalong. We played for friends and we played for strangers. Mostly we play to make ourselves happy and to bring fun music to others.
This blog will serve as a future record of our performances and as a place for us to share with a wider audience our interest in performing.
Not always perfect, but always real.
