New Songs For Kingston

We added a fiddle player and a bunch of new music for our Kingston appearance.

Just a few are:

Ring of Fire
I'll Fly Away
Union Maid
Big Muddy
In The Pines
Along with a good assortment instrumental Jigs, Polkas, and Bluegrass.

Getting Geared up for Kingston Busker Festival

We snuck into the Westover Farmers Market for a little impromptu busking practice on a very rainy Sunday.  Happily, the organizers of the market invited us to come back as often as we like and we showed up on a slightly less rainy Sunday the next weekend for some extra practice.  Even though we were missing Stevie our bass player and Robert our new fiddler we got a decent two hours of practice each Sunday.  I played bass to fill it out a bit, but I am a lot clumsier on it than Steve.

We are all set for Kingston and will get one more practice day in Cape Vincent on Tuesday before we cross the river on Wednesday afternoon to head into Kingston.

Here is the song we are going to open with in Kingston.  "You Are My Sunshine" is one of our earliest songs and remains one of our favorites.  Come on up to Kingston and sing along with us!  Kingston is a great city, with great restaurants, and some of the friendliest people I have met.

Yahoos Mardi Gras!

What a terrific time we had at the parade!  Wow!  I forgot how much fun it is to play for a parade crowd.  Really well organized and smooth trip.  There was a huge crowd.  The weather was really nice, which helped get people out and allowed Mike to keep strumming for an hour and a half without really stopping.  The crowd was so big and was pressing in so much that at one point our pickup couldn't get through.  The Po-lice had to get up there with their motorcycles and push everyone back.

We will be back at that again next year!

If you are trying to see it on your i-device check it out on facebook.

Busker Season Approaches!

It may seem like a long way to the summer, but according to Zeno's Paradox it is really always summer.  Consider this December 21 is the longest day of the year and is therefore not summer.  All the days previous to that are days that are leaving summer and all of the days after are approaching summer.  Since the moment at which summer arrives cannot be determined in any precise manner it could be considered that it is always summer.  Of course the rest of the paradox would infer that it was also always winter, but since I like summer better I will ignore that piece...

At any rate, many of the Busking Applications are coming due and I have been hard at work piecing them together.  So far the Yahoos have applied for Kingston and Toronto.  Those two bracket our summer break as teachers.  The Monday after Toronto will be back to work for us.  We should be posting some new recordings soon.  Ryan has made several more of his own and we are trying to get the Yahoos together before he has to go back to college later in January.

We managed an open mic night at the IONA cafe as winter break began and will get together for another next week.  Ryan of course has been to Georgetown regularly busking on his own.  He has a few favorite spots there and has braved to cold to perform and entertain.

Here is another of his new recordings for you to enjoy.  A song written and performed by him.
